I can’t believe it took 9 months to go by for me to hear about Scott’s passing. I just heard today on set at Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I am numb and saddened to the core. But it is so TRUE that Scott was a cheerful, smiling and encouraging human being. I am at a loss in expressing my sadness. As a mutual friend said to me today, and I agree, never be mean and hateful in the world. Leave this earth with those remembering you as a nice, kind person that puts a smile on your face. My friend Scott Brachman was definitely that guy. He never disappointed. I never heard one bad thing about Scott which is a tribute to his memory. Rest In Peace kind soul.

Rachel, Thank you for being a light through all this. For continuing to mom and to JPL. Even on the dark days you find a way to keep going. Thank you for breathing, for getting out of bed, for eating. You are amazing. I am sorry it took so long to write. But I want you to know that I know and that I am here and that I support you unconditionally. Take your time, do what you need to do to take care of yourself and know that we are standing with you and you are never alone. I love you to Andromeda and back.

I just found out Scott left us a few minutes ago.
Eleven years ago I met Scott in second period. I was new to the school, and his room was my second of 5 stations. I was alright, but Scott was truly kind to me. He let me have the run of the space, offered me any thing I needed to get through my day and the semester.
He was something I never really was, genuinely, naturally, effortlessly nice, almost unbelievably so. We ended up sharing some students and they wondered if he was really as nice and kind as he seemed. Easy yes, and yeah, it was hard to believe.
The world is just that little bit less kind, that little bit less decent for his absence, and mine is just a little bit kinder and gentler because he was and is in it.
"Taken all and all, he was a man. We shall not see his like again."
I am sorry for us all.

I had many stimulating and interesting conversations with Scott on set. He had a wry sense of humor and was fun to speak with on rare and varied topics. He spoke of his teaching and how supportive you were as his wife to cheer him to pursue his joy. He spoke of being a proud father and wonderful in-laws. He always mentioned how you encouraged him to act and enjoy the adventure which he clearly did. Love like that is rare.

I met Scott Brachman on the line for an American Crime screening at Raleigh Studios in November 2015. The timing couldn’t be more perfect, I had a show that was coming to an end, and I decided to take my mother out to admire the work of some of our fellow actors. In the past, I had dabbled in SAG-AFTRA Foundation Screenings, but was never a fan of the lines. Then I met Scott, and I came to anticipate my time on line every time I planned my screenings for the week. In our community of SAG-AFTRA Foundation regulars, Scott was a true unifying force, and with his encouragement I began to take full advantage of the services that were available to nourish me as an artist.
With his positive bearing, warmth and intelligence, he imbued in me a renewed pride in my profession, outlook, and ability to perform – I was coming to a crossroads and Scott was always there to share with me the direction I needed. Until that point it was an unspoken feeling that acting was something I had inherited, but never had the time to fully develop for myself since I entered the job market the year before. Scott provided me with a keen example of a loving husband & father, caring teacher and forthright friend all wrapped into a working actor, providing me a great sense of perspective.
I will miss Scott deeply, but I’ll always carry his gifts in my heart. At every panel we went to, he would make sure to write down a very special question, which we had the pleasure of seeing answered by everyone from Kurt Russel to Sylvester Stallone. "Could you tell us about a fun, or funny experience on set?" - that question would crack any room wide open, and he turned so many potentially stale panels into unique celebrations of the humanistic through-line hidden between the long hours of filmmaking. Scott was one of those rare individuals whose passion for art came through in so many of his actions in life; those actions will guide all those he touched, and he will be sorely missed.

Scott was a friend through the L.A. storytelling scene. As fellow performers were also members of SAG-AFTRA together. Scott had such a wide circle of interests. His varied passions, his sincere and affecting warmth with people--strangers and good friends alike--made him a truly unique person. It seems so cruel, so incomprehensible that he is gone.
