Pierre loved numbers. He devoured numbers as a child does candy. He could read into numbers insights that eluded others, including myself. The state of a company; the state of the economy. He devoured complexity. He showed me a book on insurance . It was as thick as a Manhattan telephone book. He could not stop praising it. He was a very generous man, always thinking the best of people even when they were out to do him harm. It was beyond his nature to think badly of people. He was very generous with his insights, always willing to share. whenever I think of him, I remember his New York accent, his excitability and his broad smile. As I write this my eyes tear up. I really will miss him.
