Dear family, I didn't know Aunt Lelia passed and just learned now quite by accident. Please accept my delayed condolences with sincere wishes for peace. She was indeed a wonderful lady who will surely enjoy heavenly reunion with the love of her life and other family members, which will include her sister/my grandmother, Rose Helen. Blessings & love, Gia Eaton Broadway

I will miss Lelia's consistent presence at Knox Presbyterian Church. I was honored to have been able to attend her memorial service and learn how much she had done during her life to help others. It was touching that she had retired as a teacher 37 years ago and had students in person and online attending her service. Others have informed me how she would help fellow parishoners with their taxes free of charge and was always sending cards to celebrate events. My wife and I received one when we got married in 2013. She was truly an inspiration to get all of us to try to help others and demonstrated the importance of being consistent with your words and actions. My condolences to Terri and the rest of her family. She will be greatly missed.

to the family. I dont have photos but a memory from 1958. Soon after the death of my father (May 8). Although I did not say anything to anyone (classmates and teachers) and as a member of the Ms McBath 7th grade math team she knew of my personal tragic and supported me throughout the remainder of the school year. Hearing of her death rekindle our conversation in 1958 and how much it meant. Many blessing Ms McBath in the afterlife and to your family. Trust me there very few thoughtful educators and Ms McBath is at the top of my list.

A calming spirit who loved people. A loving mom always exposing her girls to music. An incredible math teacher who uplifted children’s appreciation of math.
Just a wonderful person that I’m sure will be highly favored by GOD!!

Mrs McBeth, saved my life by speaking faith words of a LIFE I could not have ever imagined. She had a knowing beyond belief how to nurture her student's (soul) mind, will and emotions. She sensed the many problems in my home and took action to provide for the lack of parental guidance, due to the troubled environment. She looked into my eyes and spoke into my soul, "You will be an engineer!" I could not deny or defy those words, after she spoke them! She began to make arrangements for me to graduate a year early, guided me through applying to the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and ensured that I took the classes necessary to graduate at age 16, to launch into a path that I could never have imagined. I am so grateful that I had the gift of Mrs McBeth as my 10th grade math teacher. She set the course for my life with a resolve that I could be more than where I had grown-up. She even brought an engineer to speak to our math class and that set the stage for a real life testimony to what she had declared to me. I have had an amazing life journey for 4 decades in 12 industry, touching the lives of many with my faith, that was fueled by her faith in what I could become. I have told the story of my Math Teacher in many workplaces, to students who needed encouragement that they could go into STEM, and in churches where the young are being nurtured to believe they "Can do all things through Christ who strengthens!" I want to HONOR this great woman who loved me and who lived her faith in a miraculous way impacting her students forever! Much Love to The Family.

Ms. McBath was my 10th-grade homeroom teacher. She asked me to wait for a moment as classes started to change. She handed me a ticket to Karamu House' for the production of Golden Boy. She said she could not go and thought I might enjoy it.
I guess she saw my love for the arts even then. Little did we both know that I would spend the rest of my life in professional theatre.
Thank you for your insight.
Rest In Peace - Prof Dale Ricardo Shields

I'm sure that this will be repeated a million times. Mrs. McBeth was the best teacher ever. Everyone's favorite teacher was like a school mom. Imagine how many hearts have been touched by this lovely lady. Remember the resurrection, just a little while longer

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

The times spent with Lelia will forever be recorded in our memory, in our hearts. But her smile, the twinkle in her eye, the way she always treated everyone with kindness and genuine love, are things that we will never forget. The pound cake she made for Brad when she found out he liked pound cakes. She touched us all. She made us feel like we were the most important person in her life. All the teas so many of us shared with her.
She will forever be in our hearts and minds. She will be missed but always loved!
Love,
