Norbert and I borh attended Congregation Eilat. Sami used to sit and play with my boys. That was how I knew Norbert up until anout 5 years ago when I got a message from Martha Chabinsky telling me she was married to my cousin Doug. Had no clue who he was, but apparently she was correct. He was a nephew to my grandfather. While on Facebook one day, while reading some comments posted on Martha's wall was a message from Sami. I was like, "Martha, how do you know Sami? Did you meet her on FB?" Her reply, "No, she's your cousin." The rest is history.
How sad that he wasn't a part of my family for my whole life, but how blessed I was to have those 5 years with him. We'd go out for Chinese, hang out, walk on occassion, and if I was lucky go to the beach. He hated water. But, he'd go.
Norbert was the kindest, most giving person I've ever met. He was a shining light in my life. Of course he thought I was a little crazy - no a lot crazy when I moved into the RV, but being Norbert, he'd say his mind, and then look at me and say, "Whatever makes you happy." He was always there for me, whether it meant helping me when I had surgery, needed a place to have my mail delivered to, or just needed a listening ear.
He talked about his children, grandchildren, and Walter(Jared's dog) all the time. He loved them all and would do anything for them. He loved his dinners with Jared and his visits to Georgia (Sami, Brian, and the kids). They were all everything to him.
Norbert, a shining light in the eyes of so many.
Last year I posted a picture of my mother on her birthday. Norbert called me to ask me why I posted a picture of his mother. We disagreed, but he was able to prove it wasn't my mother. It looked just like her. Her name was Adele and so was my mother's. It was so weird. Norbert told me I was crazy that day. Actuallly, I truly believe he thought I was. Just kidding.
When I left in June he told me not to be gone to long or I might not get to see him again. I didn't. Though I am so sad that he was taken from me after only 5 years, I feel so blessed that I even had him for that 5 years. Norbert will remain in my heart forever. His set ways, funny antics, loving, giving, caring, and most of all him. Norbert was the most amazing man I ever met, and I'm so glad he was my cousiin. He will be missed terribly, but he will also always be in my vision and my heart.
Fly high my cousin. I love you.

I only met Norbert a handful of times but each time I just knew he was special. I admired the love he and his son shared as they spent the weekend together. He was warm and funny. We lost a wonderful human and incredible father.
Gods speed to the family

During the service it was mentioned several times how Norbert would always be there if you needed help. We Found that Norbert would always be there if you asked him to be. Kathy and I always knew when we were in California if we asked Norbert to come visit us he would always show up, no excuses, no problems. We loved having him visit us in Palm desert with our trailer or in San Clemente at the hotel or in Oregon at our house. to know him is to love him. We Love Norbert.
