Your nephew Benjamin Joseph Lehrer adored you. Why no mention of him in the obituary? You loved him too. I know you did.

I loved Michael’s sense of humor. Even when the lord took his speech, he was still able to make the whole crowd laugh with his comedy. He will no doubt be missed.

I just heard about the passing of Michael, and I wanted to extend condolences to Brad and other family and friends. I heard about the news in the Claremont McKenna College magazine. (I was class of 1969.) And I saw your contact information in the obituary. But I really knew him through his parents. They gave my mother her first job after she and my dad returned to Tacoma from the relocation of Japanese during WW II. I have always revered them for doing so.
The Lehrers were more than employers. I saw my first bar mitzah, Michael's. I got to know Michael (and Brad) in Tacoma--I recall playing together at the shop--and at college. Though I lost touch with him and his folks after college, I am sure he continued to do good deeds to his family and the wider world.

My favorite time with Michael was the last time we were together, just a few years ago we shared a beer on the patio of his old Tacoma home. We spoke of the future as much as of the past. He was happy and himself. But now I remember other wise forgotten times of just being together; Seeing him cook in the campus HUB; our light show company from high school, The magic latern light show. Other times were unforgetable , like going back to college in Claremont by way of Reno; we narrowly missed hitting a car at night on the dessert highway; when we got to Reno, we gambled all night. When Michael was in grad school I gave him a hot tip for his pretend stock portfolio; but it was he and his family who helped me. Mike's parents gave me job out of college when no one else would. I am forever grateful. Mike's mom always treated me as one of her own kids. No one of us can forget when I showed up in L.A. ; Michael, Cec and I went to the Grateful Dead at Pauly pavillion. I still tell the stories. I always enjoyed seeing Micheal at the CWA reunions. The meaning of life involves evolving one's own soul through multiple life times and helping to evolve the soul of humanity; clearly Michael has done both.

After nearly 20 years it is hard to recount any particular moment of joy with Michael that stood out more than the other. Every time we were together was a moment of joy.
it would be selfish to ask for a better friend.
Every time we would get together it was fun. He always had such a great disposition and an unending mountain of knowledge topped off with a great sense of humor.
I love him and will dearly miss him for the rest of my life
