Obituary of Roberta Oberstein

Please share a memory of Roberta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sadly, our beloved Roberta Oberstein passed away December 29. 2023 after a month long illness. Roberta was born February 7, 1940 in New York, New York, to Murray and Rose Rosenthal. Roberta studied at Yeshiva elementary and junior high and graduated from James Monroe High School in Bronx, New York where she lived until her marriage to Murray Altman. She and Murray moved to Riverdale, NY in 1960 where her two children, Mitchell and Alisa were born and then moved to New Rochelle N.Y. in 1968 and where she raised her two children until 1978. Roberta moved to Southern California in 1978 and divorced Murray in 1979. She met Howard Oberstein there in 1983 who became her husband of 40 years and began a wonderful life with him which included traveling all over the world together and building a successful direct marketing business together. They lived and worked in the San Fernando Valley. After surviving breast cancer in 2014, Roberta and Howard adopted Gracie and she began a life of being a great “dog mom” and loved every day that she could spend with Gracie and Howard. Roberta is Grandma/nana to Renee, Michelle, Devin, Lauren, Sophie and Desmond, and Great Grandma to Ethan and Lucas. She was a second mother to many. Everyone who met Roberta instantly loved her. She was spunky, strong, stylish; especially loved shopping for shoes and handbags, and was always up for a good time! Roberta (Mom, Wife, Grandma, Nana)...We will miss you forever. Until we meet again. We Loved You Very Much. In lieu of flowers and baskets, please donate to Bestfriends.org. or LAJHealth.org in Roberta Oberstein's name. Funeral Services to be held at Mt Sinai Hollywood Hills Wed Jan 3, 2024 @ 2:30PM (Family Only) A Celebration of Roberta's Life to honor her is being planned for late February.
