Obituary of Robert Messe

We regret to inform you on Monday, January 9, 2023, Robert "Bob" Messe, a long time member of both Congregation B'nai Israel and Temple Beth Emet passed away at the age of 93. An active member of the Jewish community, Robert performed with the TBE choir and regularly davened services at both synagogues.
Beloved husband to Edythe for over 69 years, cherished father to his three children Sara (Paul), Miriam (Ed), and David (Meredith). Adoring grandfather and great-grandfather to his seven grandchildren, Matthew (Sophie), Michael (Liat), Jason (Sarah), Rose, Josh, Abby and Daniel, and his three great grand-children Ilsa, Raya, and Jonah.
Bob was born in Far Rockaway, NY and attended Indiana University earning his bachelors and masters degrees in Radio and TV. He served in the Signal Corps for the US Army in 1953 just after his marriage to Edythe. After his discharge, he and Edythe moved to Bakersfield, California, where he worked as a producer/director/broadcaster of a small radio and TV station. After seven years in Bakersfield, Bob left for a job as a marketing manager in Anaheim and moved the family there in 1960. After careers with Ling Electronics, Altec, and Econolite, Bob opened his own printing business in east Anaheim in 1972, which later became Western Fast Print. He retired in 1992 and traveled extensively with Edythe, family and friends over the next 30 years.
