Dr. Adler was my professor at Cal Poly pomona. I admired her intelligence. She was also very down to earth, which made me comfortable. She wrote me letters of recommendation over the years. I was in tears when I discovered this sad news. God bless you all.

I'm a science recruiter for companies in the Biotech space, and I got to know Jill through her incredible relationship with the students and young scientists who worked with her, and whom she mentored. Many of them went off to successful careers in industry companies because of her guidance. She was one of those rare people who had the ability to understand (and work well in) the world of academia, as well as the world of industry at the same time. She "got" the career differences, and for herself, she went the academic route. But I never heard her once put down the choice of going to a company for employment . . . ((many mentors do that, unfortunately). She was truly special and I wish there were more like her in the world today. Dave Jensen, CareerTrax, Scottsdale AZ

It is with such a heavy heart and soul to hear of the news that my mentor and dream-maker, Dr. Jill Adler-Moore has passed.
There are few people whom have had such impact on the trajectory of my life. She inspired, taught, listened and did everything in her reach to elevate everyone around her. Dr. Adler was an intellectual giant with a heart to match. Her smile and laugh contagious, genuine and warming. Her passion for my and other's success was clearly evident...
Without a doubt, her presence at CPP is the reason I am at Cornell getting my PhD today. I promised myself I would send her an image of myself once I wore the gown and held my degree...it pains me to know she will never see or hear the words I had been manifesting and conjuring within me over these past 6 years. This image in my head burned itself in me early on and has been an illuminating fire of inspiration during my darkest days. I wanted to make her proud and show her that final stamp for her to see that her time, effort and passion did yield fruitful trees and without a doubt, an immeasurable impact on her students.
You will be terribly missed Dr. Adler, my dear friend and mentor. I am so proud to be a Cal Poly Pomona Alumn and to have been around amazing professors and mentors like Dr. Adler. Rest in peace and may your legacy be felt and seen for generations to come.

I owe Dr. A my successes throughout my career. She was the one who lifted me up during my most difficult point in life, and I will always be grateful for her thoughtfulness. She's also a kind, loving mentor and a friend who never hesitated to help out the students. To be able to educate fellow peers and lend a helping hand along the way is a kind of person that she is and also a kind of person who I wish to become one day. She will be dearly missed.

Dr. A-
I can't believe you are no longer with us. It feels like only yesterday that I came to your office before graduating from CPP to tell you of my post-grad plans. I'm incredibly sad that I can no longer update you on how I am doing or ask for your sage advice. I will miss your sage counsel, your warm demeanor, and your valuable mentorship. I'm so blessed to have interacted with you during my time at CPP and I will always hold dear our conversations and meetings we had together in your office. One of my fondest memories of the both of us is meeting up at the ASM meeting in Boston in the Summer of 2016. When I saw the giant AmBisome sign hanging in the middle of the entire Expo Hall, I was in awe!
This is a monumental loss for the CPP College of Science community, but knowing that your legacy will live on through the achievements of your students brings great comfort to me.
To Dr. A's family, I am incredibly sorry for your loss. You have my sincerest sympathy. She was a remarkable woman.
Rest in Power, Dr. A. Until we meet again...
Sincerely,
Renee Estephan

I work for Gilead, and it was an honour to get to know Jill during her visits to Ireland and the UK. She was an inspiration to everyone that had the good fortune to meet her and her talks were always well attended and appreciatively received. She always had a huddle of clinicians waiting to talk to her at the end of her talks, and she was so gracious and kind to them all. It was a privilege to get to know her, even a little bit, and the world is a poorer place for her absence. Condolences to her family from everyone who worked with her in the UK and Ireland. We will miss Jill.

Jill was a fellow dancer at Cal Poly. We performed together (late 70's/early 80's) in several faculty/student dance concerts. As a student, I was in awe of her energy, her youthfulness, her smile, her dance talent and her choreography. Many years later, I became faculty and returned to Cal Poly in the early 2000's, and there was Jill with her same energy, youthfulness and that smile! I am certain she is dancing in Heaven. May Jill's memories always be in our hearts and in the music. For those that remember, may the music and memory of Jill's iconic choreography of 'Birdland' live forever in our hearts.

Thank you so much for sharing your memories of Jill. I learned things about her life that I didn't know and that are precious. At our meetings, Jill always conveyed how proud she was of her children, grandchildren and husband and how much love she had for them. I am so sorry for your loss, but I know she lives on in your lives as many of you indicated.
It was my honor to work with Jill and to see, feel and experience the passion she had for science and the passion that she brought to Cal Poly and all the work she did with students.
With much love,

For many years now I have felt very fortunate to work with Jill as a colleague and a friend. This year as we were working on yet another NIH proposal I asked Jill where she found the energy to meet the consuming demands of all her passions…teaching, mentoring, researching, along with family and friends. Jill joked about being “the bionic woman with some steel plates”. Her resilience to fulfill these passions so gracefully this year – with the rounds of chemo-treatments on top of decades of battling cancer, a recently broken hip and the more general distractions including the pandemic – have and will continue to inspire me.
Jill: I know your spirit will live on in colleagues, students, friends and family. You are my shining light. Thank you for being you and including me in your life. My heartfelt condolences to your family.

The news that we can no longer interact with Jill leaves a void impossible to fill. But I am grateful that I learned that she was in hospice in time to send her a brief note. I do not know whether she ever read it, but it expresses what I would have said to her if I could have. I share it with you now…
"Jill,
I write to tell you that I am very grateful to call you colleague and friend. Your wit, grace, intelligence, creativity, good sense, energy, enthusiasm, inventiveness, laugh, leadership, thoughtfulness, and productivity have been an inspiration to us all. We are all better for having seen you model the professor, inventor, scientist, mentor, entrepreneur, teacher, and scholar. Your students have learned from and been mentored by a true (capital M) Master. They reseed the community of their expertise with those fine qualities that you have planted in them as we speak.
Since I have retired, you are one of the colleagues I have missed interacting with the most. I wish that I could share a few moments with you now—I will do so from afar.

I joined Gilead late 2007 as UK and Ireland Marketing Director. Within 9 months I am forever indebted to both Jill and Gilead. To cut a long story short my son was admitted to hospital here in Cambridge and with a few days we were told he may be dying but no one knew why. He had hours to live. Due to the drive of Professor Carmichael at Addenbrooks and the Rx of AmBisome my son is alive, well and has just turned 14 today. He had contracted visceral lichmanisis (so rare) on holiday in Spain from a sandfly bite- Ambisome is the only drug to kill the disease. It is ironic that I worked for Gilead and I had the privilege to meet Jill a few times and listening to her passionate story in discovering AmBisome. I owe her a lot, more than I can express here - I don’t want to think what could have been without AmBisome-thank you Jill. You made a huge difference to my life and family. RIP. Graham Dempsey

She was simply the best instructor I have ever had, she made such an impact. Getting an A in her class was and is something I was so proud of, mostly because she was so full of a love of learning and enthusiasm, we all wanted to do our best.
