Obituary of Gabriel Newhouse

Gabriel Henry Newhouse Jr. of Orange, CA, passed away on November 25, 2020 at age 96. Gabriel was born on November 24, 1924 in Los Angeles to Gabriel Sr and Pearl Newhouse. His family moved to New York City when he was very young. He went to Stuyvesant High School and graduated in 1941. He then moved back to Los Angeles and began college at UCLA. In 1943 he was drafted into the Army. After military training he served in India for the rest of the WW II. Following the war he returned to UCLA and eventually earned a BS degree. He worked in the aerospace industry until he retired in the mid-80s. Gabriel married his wife Dorothy in 1950. They celebrated their 70th anniversary in 2020. He is survived by Dorothy, their five children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Gabriel was very active in the Temple Beth Shalom Brotherhood and the Orange County B’nai B’rith for many years. He was fond of classical music, sailing, traveling and always enjoyed finding a new dining experience. He was laid to rest at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, Los Angeles, CA on Monday November 30, 2020.
