Sue saved my achilis tendon and cured my Complex regional pain syndrome in my club foot, I had 9 months of physical therapy in 2010, she was sooo amazing, the Foot Dr. said I would be on canes the rest of my life which wasn’t true, Sue new all the right treatments for my foot to heal, she loved taking care of the sea lions and helping animals.
Sincerely,
Marissa Schlomer

Such a tough, caring, thoughtful and badass woman - Sue, I feel a deep void. But, know every time I see the ocean and/or ocean animal, I will think of you.

Our dearest Sue,
Throughout our time together, you have been a spirit and light of love, care, and devotion in our lives. We see a reminder of that every day on Cami's keychain tag engraved with your words "Family is everything." We know that you meant that wholeheartedly. From regular texts, hand-written cards, homemade gifts, outings around the city, and deliveries of your delicious vegetarian meals, you never relented in doing all that you could to express your love for each of us. One of your many joys was creating beautiful family moments and memories, and we will forever cherish and be grateful for every last one of them.
Little Ione received her very first gift, the teddy bear you made her, almost a year ago. We are heartbroken that your time with her has been cut devastatingly short and that she won't have the opportunity to grow up with you by her side. That said, we plan to do all that we can to make sure that she learns from your spirit and the legacy that you are leaving within our family. We will tell her how you put your love into actions every day. We will teach her about caring for the ocean and all animals. We will practice handwriting messages to loved ones and giving away homemade creations to show others how much we care. We will volunteer our time to give back to our community and help make a difference in whatever ways we can.
Thank you so much for the unbelievable kindness you have shown us. We love you Nana Sue.
- Zephyr, Cameron, and Ione

I knew Sue as a patient and years later as a naturalist with Cabrillo Whalewatch, but we only got close during the pandemic over Labor Day weekend. A sweet friendship developed as we worked together on behalf of inner city students impacted by Covid. I was touched by Sue's determination to help and be of service to these kids. It may have been one of her last acts of kindness, in a lifetime of innumerable acts of kindness. At the same time she was such a fun-loving girl! Dear Sue, I keep your memory and your generosity of spirit close to my heart. Warmest condolences to Melissa, Jeff, and the family.

Thinking of you Sue, your love for animals and people, love of the ocean, the smile you always had for everyone, and the contributions you made to your community. You will be missed by many, and it feels like your spirit continues to shine through your positive work as well as personal attitude of showing up for others. Wishing you love.

Our Neighbor Sue was not just our neighbor but a friend who was always helping others. My husband hurt his neck and she would give him therapy and would make sure that we had food during this pandemic. Last Easter she left me flowers on my porch, she was thoughtful like that. We will miss you Sue, Rest In Peace my friend. You are now pain free. Fly with the Angels and watch I’ve me.

I'm just going to add this photo, Susan. This was one of the last photos we were able to take of the three of us all together. You brought these silly hats to the photo shoot which made the session so much more fun and turned out to be some of my very favorite photos of us. I never told you about how fun you made the shoot. This particular photo was one I enlarged and had framed, it has been on my table since we had them taken. And now I can't believe you are no longer here, too... I am hoping that your friends who come to this page will see the joy in this photo. (Note to mortuary, I have full rights to this image granted by the photographer.)

The world—people and animals—is a better place for Susan having walked on this Earth. Outpourings of love and remembrances from so many quarters: Susan shone a light on each person and animal she knew. And so many multicolored lights: rehabilitation of marine mammals, caring for stray cats, volunteering with the police department, helping stray dogs, finding a foster mom for monarch butterflies. And then her patients: Susan soldiered on treating her physical therapy patients although her pain (from a car accident) was worse than that of her patients. Susan, Melissa, Marianne, and I went Chaparral High School, Scottsdale. Susan reached out to me as a Facebook friend in a small gesture that spoke volumes. I am grateful for Susan including me in her orbit. I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a shining star and a friend. My deepest sympathies to the Turner family.

I love you Sue. I'll miss you from the bottom of my heart. You made my life richer, funner, and much more lively than I could have made it myself. I can only try to emulate the strengths in your personality that I lack. I'll look back at our friendship as a shining light in my life.

When I think of Sue, I think of her incredible love for animals. I wish very much to have had to opportunity to spend more time with her and get to know her better. She is missed so greatly at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. Sending all my love to the family. The aquarium will always be here for you.
