Jeanne Mintz
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother
August 2, 1932 – June 4, 2025
Jeanne Mintz, born Jeanne Kitty Berkowitz to Harry and Rose Berkowitz on August 2, 1932, was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. She was the youngest of four children, which included her sister Roz and brothers Vic and Sid.
When Jeanne was still a child, her two older brothers enlisted in the Service. After they returned, the family relocated to California. Jeanne graduated from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles in 1950. It wasn’t long before she met Howard Jay Ettinger and fell in love. On June 15, 1952 Jeanne and Howard were married at Temple Rodef Sholom in Los Angeles.
In 1955, her beautiful daughter Stace was born, and two short years later, her precious twin boys Mike and Marc arrived. Her children were her pride and joy. Her family eventually grew to include a stepson (Jon) and his son (Joey), a son-in-law (Dan), daughters-in-law (Tracy and Debbie), as well as four grandchildren (Kurt, Lindsay, Kristin, and Aidan). In 2023, her great grandson (Niko) was born to granddaughter Kristin.
In March 1997, Jeanne married her third husband, Gordon Mintz, who treated her like a queen. Jeanne and Gordon traveled the world together and were always off to their next destination. Jeanne was tragically widowed three times in her almost 93 years of life. In recent years, after Gordon’s passing in 2015, Jeanne developed Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. On June 4, 2025, she died peacefully and unexpectedly in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she recently moved in 2024.
Jeanne loved to spend time with family and friends, and she delighted in making any occasion a cause for celebration. She was the life of every party and always found her way into the spotlight. She will be remembered for her smile, her wit, and her fierce love for her family who loves her and misses her.
