Obituary for Ana Olivia Popick It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ana Olivia Popick beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on January 18,2025. She was 66 years old. Ana was born on May 5, 1958, in Cuba, the daughter of Martha and Carlos Simons. At the age of 10, she and her family left Cuba, eventually settling in Spain until 1973. Afterward, Ana moved with her family to Oklahoma, where they lived with her mother and siblings before reuniting with her father in the San Fernando Valley. Ana's, life was one of immense warmth, love, and devotion to those she cared for. She was a woman of great intelligence and resilience. A graduate of CSU Northridge, she was also a model for Neiman Marcus before following her true calling as a Spanish teacher. She taught at Montessori schools for over 23 years, shaping the minds of countless children. Ana's compassion extended beyond the classroom as she also served as a Family Advocate for Head Start Family Services and volunteered for five years at the Foothill Unity Center Food Bank. Her community involvement and unwavering kindness left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ana's spiritual journey was equally profound. She converted to Judaism at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles in 1987, receiving her Bat Mitzvah at Temple Beth Tikvah, where she embraced and nurtured her elevated spirituality throughout her life. She was a model of faith, love, and deep connection to her Jewish heritage. Ana’s most cherished roles were those of mother and grandmother. She is survived by her two loving children, Benjamin Popick and Julia Popick, as well as her adored grandchildren, Liam and Riley Popick. Her devotion to them knew no bounds, and she proudly held the title of “World’s Best Mother and Grandmother.” She also leaves behind her siblings: George Simons, Merie Noh, and the late Carlos Simons, who tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in 1985. Her nieces, Jenifer Long, Susan Noh, and Christine Nouzovsky, were all touched by her kindness and presence. Ana was known for her incredible language and writing skills, her sharp intuition, and her ever-present sense of humor. She was a beautiful soul, both inside and out, who radiated love, laughter, and light to everyone she encountered. A passionate dancer, a nurturing spirit, and a resourceful problem-solver, Ana was a shining example of all that is good in this world. n the words of her family, she was the embodiment of kindness and compassion, leaving behind a legacy of love and selflessness. Ana’s spirit will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.
